Mor Kuzhambu Recipe is a curd based South Indian cuisine prepared with vegetables such as ladies’ fingers, ash gourds, and more, as well as urad dal vada.  With minor modifications, the recipe is known by various names in various locations, including Moru Kuzhambu, Moru Curry, Moru Koottan, Majjige Huli, and Kadi. Typically, it is served as a side dish with rice and veggies.

Mor-Kuzhambu-Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Ladies Finger / Okra
  • 1/4 Cup Sour Curd
  • 3/4 Cup Grated Coconut
  • 3-4 Green Chilli
  • 2 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tbsp soaked Raw rice
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Coconut Oil
  • Salt

Directions

  1. Grind Coconut, Cumin Seeds, Green chilli, soaked raw rice in a mixie to a smooth paste with little water.
  2. Add 1 cup water with curd and whisk Curd well, keep it ready.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add chopped ladies finger and saute ladies finger with little salt and turmeric till it gets done.
  4. Then mix in the necessary amount of water with the ground coconut paste.
  5. Give them a few minutes to boil.
  6. Then turn the stove off.
  7. Add the prepared sour curd mixture when it has warmed up.
  8. Since curd should not be boiled or warmed, avoid adding it to hot gravy and avoid boiling it after adding it.
  9. In a separate pan add coconut oil, temper with mustard, then add curry leaves and pour it on top of it.
  10. Tasty and Sour Mor Kuzhambu is ready.
  11. Serve with hot rice.
