Vazhakkai Podimas Recipe is a simple, tasty and easy recipe that goes well with simple lunches like rasam, sambar rice. In this recipe I have added steamed and shredded valakkai.
Ingredients
- 1 Vazhakkai
- 1/4 tsp Mustard
- 1/4 tsp Urad dal
- a pinch Asafoetida
- Few Curry leaves
- Few Coriander leaves
- Salt
- Oil
To crush coarsely
- 1 Red Chilli
- 1 Green Chilli
- a inch Ginger
- 1 tbsp Grated Coconut
Directions
- Wash Vazhakkai and steam it with skin till it gets cooked well but not mushy.
- Once done, peel the skin and shred the valakkai.
- Add red chilli, green chilli, ginger and coconut, just crush them well or coarsely grind them and take.
- Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, add urad dal, curry leaves, asafetida.
- Then add vazhakkai with the crushed masala and mix all well with salt.
- Continue saute for a while in low flame till the raw smell disappears.
- Switch off the stove.
- Garnish with coriander leaves and add lemon juice once it gets warm which is optional.
- Serve with hot rice.
