  1. Quickly rinse the red rice once or twice.
  2. Drain the water and add 2 1/2 cups of clean water to soak.
  3. Red rice should be soaked for 4 to 6 hours to make it easier to prepare and more tender to consume as regular rice.
  4. After soaking for 4 hours add one more cup of water and keep it in a flame preferably heavy bottom based.
  5. Once it begins to boil, turn the heat down to low and cook for another 20 to 30 minutes, or until all the water has been absorbed.
  6. Every now and then, stir.
  7. Turn off the flame once it is thoroughly cooked, then cover it with a lid.
  8. Keep it closed for 15 mins.
  9. Open the lid and gently fluff up the rice.
  10. Perfectly cooked Red Rice is ready to serve.
  11. Serve warm with curry of your choice as a regular Indian Meals.
