Keerai Saadham | Seeraga Samba Recipe is a healthy rice recipe that is rich in micronutrients. It’s a fantastic dish for kids because they tend to be reluctant to eat keerai if they haven’t been trained to do so after weaning. Kids enjoy eating keerai when it is prepared in this way.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch Siru Keerai
- 1/2 Cup Rice (Seeraga Samba Rice)
- 1 Onion
- 2 Green Chilli
- 2 tbsp Moong dal
- 1 tbsp Grated Coconut
- 1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
- Oil
- Salt
Directions
- Moong dal must be washed and soaked for 20 minutes.
- Wash and cook rice with 2 cup of water, Once rice is cooked well add little sesame oil and mix well.
- Remove roots, check for pests and take good Keerai.
- Soak it in water mixed with salt and turmeric for 5 mins.
- Then rinse it with water for two to three times.
- Drain it and chop keerai.
- Heat oil in kadai, splutter mustard seeds, then add chopped onion, slip green chilli and sauté till translucent in medium flame.
- After that, add the chopped keerai and the soaked moong dal and continue to sauté. After a short while, the keerai will shrink and gets reduced of its original volume.
- Sprinkle little water if necessary, don’t cover and cook the keerai.
- Switch off the stove and immediately add salt, grated coconut stir a while, then add cooked rice and mix well.
- Keerai Saadham is Ready.
- Serve hot with any fried vegetable of your choice.
