To produce any snacks at any moment, it is usually advisable to utilise traditional white rice flour (such as tooyamalli flour or milagu samba rice).

Uppu-Kozhukattai-Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Rice Flour
  • 10 – 15 Shallot / Small Onions
  • 2 tbsp Grated Coconut
  • 1/2 tbsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Urad dal
  • 2 Green Chilli
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Salt
  • Oil

Directions

  1. Heat two tbsp sesame oil in a cast iron kadai, temper with mustard seeds, urad dal, wait till it sputters and turns golden.
  2. Add Chopped onions, curry leaves and green chilli.
  3. Saute for a while, then add rice flour and continue stirring in medium flame.
  4. Add salt, 2 cups of water and continue stirring without forming lumps.
  5. Stir continuously till it gets cooked well and turns thick as a dough.
  6. Add grated coconut and switch off the flame.
  7. Let it get warm.
  8. Apply little sesame oil in your hands and make a gentle, rough sphere shape kozhukattai by taking a small portion of it.
  9. Steam it in a steamer for 10 minutes.
  10. Uppu Kozhukattai is ready to Serve.
