Mappillai Samba Rice Dosai | Red Rice Dosa Recipe is a nutritious alternative breakfast or dinner recipe for diabetes, obesity and other health problems. Red Rice Mapillai Samba is a famous and popular traditional rice variety of Tamilnadu which is full of fibre, protein, vitamins, and minerals that also aid in strengthening the body. Only black split urad dal and mappillai samba rice are used in this dish, both of which provide excellent flavour and strength. If you’d like, you may also include little idli rice which is optional.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Mapillai samba arisi
  • ½ cup Black split urad dal
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • Sesame Oil
  • Salt

Directions

  1. Quickly Wash Mappillai Samba rice and soak it for 4 hours with fenugreek seeds.
  2. Wash and Soak black split urad dal for 1 hour.
  3. After 4 hours, first grind black split urad dal into a smooth paste in a mixie or grinder.
  4. Transfer it to a container.
  5. Then add mappillai samba rice and grind to batter.
  6. Transfer it to a container, add salt.
  7. Beat and Mix well with your hands.
  8. Keep it in a warm place for 7-8 hours.
  9. Once it is fermented, mix well.
  10. Heat a dosa pan. Pour a ladle full of Mapillai samba dosa batter and make it circular.
  11. Drizzle sesame oil on the top.
  12. Close and cook for 2 mins in medium flame.
  13. Remove it from the pan once it is cooked well, no need to flip which is optional.
  14. Healthy Red rice Mappillai Samba Dosa is Ready.
  15. Serve red rice dosa with chutney / sambar.
