Paruppu Podi Recipe | Easy Rice Mix Powder is a quick and flavorful rice mix powder prepared in a matter of minutes. While fried gram is used to make this paruppu podi, heating is sufficient instead of roasting over a flame. And in this dish, I only use black pepper—which treats stomach issues, cools the body, and strengthens immunity—in place of red chilli.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 Cup Fried Gram
  • 1/4 Cup Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  • Salt

Directions

  1. In an iron kadai dry roast pepper till it pops in medium flame.
  2. Transfer it to a plate.
  3. Add Cumin Seeds, Asafetida, salt and Fried Gram on the iron kadai and immediately switch off the flame.
  4. Stir continuously for 2 to 3 mins till the kadai heat gets down.
  5. Transfer to a plate and let it cool.
  6. Combine all and Grind to a powder (Fine or slightly Coarse as you prefer).
  7. Paruppu Podi is Ready.
  8. Store it in an airtight container.
  9. Serve it with hot, boiled rice and top with a teaspoon of ghee or sesame seed oil.
