Ingredients
- 2 Cup Ragi Flour / Sprouted Ragi Flour
- 2 tbsp Sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp mustard
- 1/4 tbsp urad dal
- 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
- 2 red chilli
- Few Curry leaves
- 1/4 Cup Shallot / Small Onions
- 2 tbsp Grated Coconut
- Salt
- 2 tbsp Buttermilk (optional)
- 1/2 Cup water
Directions
- Take ragi flour in a basin, add required salt and mix well.
- Sprinkle water little by little and mix well.
- Make sure there are no lumps and, if there are, break them.
- Take some wet flour in your palm and close it tightly to test the consistency of the flour; it should hold its shape and break if you press on it. The consistency is perfect.
- Put the flour in the cloth and steam for 10 minutes.
- Once done, transfer it to a bowl.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard and wait for it to splutter.
- Then add urad dal, cumin seeds followed by curry leaves, red chilli and chopped shallots / Small onion.
- Saute till onions turn golden color, add required salt and switch off the stove.
- Add this with steamed ragi flour and grated coconut.
- Mix all together.
- Spicy Ragi Kara Puttu is ready.
- Serve Hot.
