Lemon Rice | Elumichai Sadam Recipe is a simple, nutritious and quick recipe. We can easily prepare this rice with just lemon juice and tempering spices. But keep in mind to never heat lemon juice and not even add it in hot kadai after tempering the other spices. In this recipe I have used traditional white rice Thanga samba which is rich in nutrition and also helps boost immunity and strength. You can also use any rice of your choice.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Rice (Thanga Samba Rice)
  • 2-3 Big Lemon
  • 3-4 Green Chilli
  • 1-2 tbsp Roasted peanut
  • 2 Garlic Clove
  • 1 tsp Mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp Urad dal
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 1 Red Chilli
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • Few Coriander leaves
  • Salt
  • Oil

Directions

  1. Wash Thanga Samba rice once or twice and soak it in water for 20 min.
  2. Then cook thanga samba rice with 2 cups of water and once cooked well, add one spoon sesame oil and gently flip it and spread it in a wide bowl.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds and wait for it to splutter, then add urad dal, let it turn golden, add red chilli, asafetida, crushed garlic, slit green chilli, curry leaves.
  4. Just Stir.
  5. Switch off the flame.
  6. Add turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
  7. Pour this on to the cooked rice and mix well with roasted peanuts.
  8. Finally add 2 or 3 lemon juice to the rice and gently mix them all well.
  9. Thanga Samba Lemon Rice is ready.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Serve with any fried vegetables or vathal.
