Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Bajra / Kambu Flour
  • 3 tbsp Grated Coconut
  • 1 Cup Jaggery
  • a pinch Cardamom Powder
  • 1 tsp Ghee
  • a pinch Salt

Directions

  1. In a pan add jaggery with little water.
  2. Boil for a few minutes and filter it to remove impurities, keep aside ready.
  3. In a heavy bottom pan heat ghee, add bajra flour and roast for a few minutes till we get a nice aroma.
  4. Transfer to plate.
  5. Add 2 cups of water in the same pan with cardamom powder, salt, jaggery syrup and heat it.
  6. When it starts to boil add roasted bajra flour and stir continuously without getting lumps in medium low flame.
  7. Once it gets cooked well and formed like a dough add grated coconut and mix well.
  8. Switch off the flames.
  9. Let it get warm to make a kozhukattai.
  10. Apply oil in hands, take a small ball size and shape it by pressing using your hands.
  11. Repeat with all the dough.
  12. Keep them in a steamer and steam for 7 – 10 mins.
  13. Healthy and Tasty Bajra recipe | Kambu Kozhukattai is ready.
  14. Serve hot.
