Everyone, especially children, enjoy eating super-soft Barnyard Millet Idiyappam, which is made by simply soaking millets in water, grinding them, and then adding a small amount of idiyappam flour. It’s a delicious and healthy Indian breakfast recipe that even patients and elderly people can consume.
Ingredients
- 1 cup barnyard millet
- 1/2 cup idiyappam rice flour
- Oil
- salt
Directions
- Wash and soak barnyard millet for 2 hours.
- Drain water and spread it in a kitchen towel for 30 mins.
- Then grind it in a mixie to get a fine wet flour.
- Sieve the flour.
- Roast it for a few minutes till it gets hot.
- Then add idiyappam flour to it with salt and mix well.
- Add oil, add hot water and mix well to make a soft dough.
- Heat steamer.
- Fill a little dough in the idiyappam presser when the dough is warm.
- Press the dough in circular and steam it for 7 to 10 mins.
- Once done, serve with gravy, kurma or sweet coconut milk.
