Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Chickpeas / Chana
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Fennel Seeds
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Few Coriander leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt

To grind

  • 2 Onions
  • 2 Tomato
  • a small piece ginger
  • 4-5 Garlic cloves
  • 3 Red Chilli

Directions

  1. Wash and soak Chickpeas for 8-10 hours.
  2. Drain water and wash it once well.
  3. Cook chickpeas well till soft with little salt.
  4. Grind onions, tomato, ginger, garlic, red chilli smooth as a fine paste.
  5. Heat oil in a pan, add fennel seeds, curry leaves and then add grind masala.
  6. Add salt and turmeric powder, mix well, saute in medium low flame till the raw smell disappears.
  7. Then add cooked chickpeas, required water and mix well.
  8. Check for salt and spice, add if required, let them boil well.
  9. Once it gets a little thick and mixed well, switch off the stove.
  10. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  11. Serve with any tiffin like roti, idiyappam, puttu etc.
