Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Karamani / Black eyed peas
  • 2 tbsp Grated Coconut
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Split urad dal
  • 2 Red Chilli
  • a pinch asafoetida
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Oil
  • Salt

Directions

  1. Wash and soak Karamani for six to eight hours in water.
  2. In a pan, combine the drained karamani with the required amount of water and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, or until it becomes soft, without mashing it.
  3. When done, turn off the stove.
  4. Heat a little oil in a pan, temper with mustard seeds, urad dal and let them splutter and turn golden.
  5. Then add red chilli, curry leaves, and asafetida.
  6. Add cooked Karamani and mix well.
  7. After turning off the stove, stir in the grated coconut.
  8. Healthy and Tasty Karamani Sundal is Ready.
  9. Serve Hot.
