Kara Sev recipe is one of the simple and delicious Indian Diwali snacks. Everyone, young and old, adores karasev for its fiery flavour and delicate texture. A fantastic evening snack that requires very few ingredients is karasev.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Gram flour / Besan Flour
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1 tsp Crushed pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli powder
  • a pinch asafetida
  • Groundnut oil
  • Salt

Directions

  1. In a bowl add gram flour, rice flour, crushed pepper, red chilli powder, asafetida with required salt.
  2. Mix it well.
  3. Add water little by little to make a smooth dough.
  4. Dough will be slightly sticky.
  5. Take a murukku press.
  6. Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
  7. Put an oval shaped dough in the murukku press.
  8. Press it directly in hot oil, cut with fingers into 3 to 4 inch pieces.
  9. Fry both sides in a high medium flame till both sides get fried and color changed to orange.
  10. Remove it from the flame without burning it when the bubble stops.
  11. Tasty and Spicy Kara Sev is ready.
  12. When it is cooled to room temperature, store in airtight containers.
