Ingredients

  • 1 Cup Urad dal
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 1/2 tbsp pepper
  • Few Curry leaves
  • a small piece ginger
  • Few Coriander Leaves
  • Salt
  • Sesame Oil

Directions

  1. Wash and Soak Urad dal for 1 hour, then refrigerate it for 30 mins.
  2. After that, add it to a blender along with the ginger, pepper, and green chilli.
  3. With a few spoons of cold water, blend it into a smooth batter.
  4. Transfer it to a bowl.
  5. Add Salt, curry leaves, coriander leaves and mix well.
  6. Wet your hands and fingers.
  7. Heat oil in a kadai.
  8. Take a small portion of the batter.
  9. Using your other hands, press your thumb into the centre to create a hole.
  10. Drop the vadai into the hot oil.
  11. Deep fry till it turns golden color on both sides.
  12. Can make 3 to 4 vadai at the same time.
  13. Medu vada / Ulundu vadai is Ready.
  14. Serve hot with coconut chutney, sambar.
