Foxtail Millet flakes payasam | Thinai Aval payasam recipe is a simple and quick millet recipe prepared in a few minutes. During festivals, we can make Thinai Payasam and serve it as prasadam. We may also use any millet flakes in the same way to make tasty and healthy payasam that everyone, especially kids, enjoys eating.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Foxtail Millet Flakes
  • 1/2 cup Jaggery
  • 1 Cup Thick Coconut Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Dry fruits & nuts
  • a pinch Cardamom powder
  • a tbsp Cow ghee

Directions

  1. Quickly rinse foxtail millet flakes and drain it.
  2. Heat ghee in a cast iron kadai / heavy bottom pan.
  3. Add dry fruits and nuts and just roast it on low flame.
  4. Remove roasted and keep aside in a bowl.
  5. Add rinsed flakes in the same pan and saute for a few minutes till the flakes get roasted, then add 1/2 cup water and cook for a few minutes till it gets boiled.
  6. Remove from flame.
  7. Transfer it with roasted nuts.
  8. Add Coconut Milk, jaggery, cardamom and mix well.
  9. Healthy and Tasty Foxtail Millet flakes payasam is ready to serve.
