Ingredients

  • 1 cup barnyard millet
  • 1/2 cup idiyappam rice flour
  • Oil
  • salt

Directions

  1. Wash and soak barnyard millet for 2 hours.
  2. Drain water and spread it in a kitchen towel for 30 mins.
  3. Then grind it in a mixie to get a fine wet flour.
  4. Sieve the flour.
  5. Roast it for a few minutes till it gets hot.
  6. Then add idiyappam flour to it with salt and mix well.
  7. Add oil, add hot water and mix well to make a soft dough.
  8. Heat steamer.
  9. Fill a little dough in the idiyappam presser when the dough is warm.
  10. Press the dough in circular and steam it for 7 to 10 mins.
  11. Once done, serve with gravy, kurma or sweet coconut milk.
