Aval Payasam | Red Flakes Recipe is a healthy and tasty payasam recipe. Without making any prior preparations, Flakes Payasam can be made in a matter of minutes. In addition, I’m using Mappillai Samba Red Flakes, which are more nutrient-dense than other flakes. We can prepare this dish using Red Flakes or White Flakes depending on your preferences.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Cup Aval (Red / White)
  • 3/4 Cup Jaggery Powder
  • 2 Cup Coconut Milk
  • 1/4 Cup Cashew
  • 1/4 Cup Dry grapes
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 2 to 3 tsp Ghee

Directions

  1. Quick rinse Aval for 2 times and soak it with little water for 5 mins.
  2. Drain water from soaked aval, squeeze well and keep it ready.
  3. In a pan heat little ghee, roast cashew and dry grapes in low flame.
  4. Once roasted, transfer it to a bowl and add squeezed aval, roast it for a few minutes till it gets heat.
  5. Then add 3 cups of water, boil it in low flame till it gets cooked well.
  6. Add Coconut Milk, cardamom powder and let it boil for a minute.
  7. Switch off the stove.
  8. Add Jaggery powder, roasted cashew and dry grapes.
  9. Mix all together.
  10. Tasty and Delicious Aval Payasam is Ready to Serve hot.
