Moong Dal Rice Recipe | Arisi Paruppu Sadam is a famous Kongunadu dish also popular in many parts of Tamilnadu. It takes less time to prepare and is a quick, easy, flavorful, and healthful protein rich lunch or dinner recipe. I used aromatic seeraga samba rice in this dish, which gives it a rich, pleasant flavour. You can use any variety of rice you prefer.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Seeraga Samba Rice
- 1/2 Cup Moong Dal
- 2 Green Chilli
- 2 Red Chilli
- 1 Onion
- 1 Tomato
- A pinch asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp Urad dal
- 1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 tsp Crushed Ginger Garlic
- 1 stick Cinnamon
- Curry leaves
- Oil
- Ghee
- Salt
Directions
- Wash and Soak Seeraga Samba Rice and Moong dal together for 20 mins.
- Cook them with 2 3/4 (less than 3 Cups) Cups of water.
- Don’t over cook rice and dal.
- In a pan heat oil, temper mustard seeds, urad dal, cinnamon, red chilli, asafetida and curry leaves.
- Then add crushed ginger garlic, sliced onions, slit green chilli and saute till onions get translucent.
- Add tomato which is optional and saute till it gets soft.
- Then add Salt and Mix it with cooked Moong dal rice.
- Gently Mix well.
- Add a spoonful of Ghee.
- Switch off the Stove.
- Moong Dal Rice | Arisi Paruppu Sadam is Ready.
- Serve hot with any Fried Vegetables.
