Ingredients
- 1 Cup Red Rice (Mappillai Samba Rice)
- 3/4 Cup Jaggery powder
- 1/4 Cup Grated Coconut
- a pinch Cardamom powder
- 2 tbsp Ghee
To prepare Mappillai Samba Puttu Flour
- Wash and soak mappillai samba rice for 3 hours.
- Then Drain the water and spread it in a kitchen towel for 30 mins.
- Grind the mappillai samba red rice to get a wet flour.
- Roast the flour and once cooled, store it in an air tight container if prepared in bulk to prepare red rice puttu in a few minutes.
To prepare REd Rice Puttu
- Just sprinkle some water, mix the red rice flour well and leave it for an hour to get it soft and wet.
- If using fresh flour, simply prepare puttu using the wet flour.
- In an idli steamer, steam the wet flour for 10 minutes.
- After that, transfer it to a bowl and combine with grated coconut, jaggery powder, cardamom, and ghee.
- Red rice puttu is Ready, Serve hot.
