Sweet Dal Poli Recipe | Wheat Boli is a sweet dish that is well-known throughout India. It goes by a variety of names, including poli, boli, bobbatlu, obbattu, pooran poli, etc. with minor variations. This sweet dish made with wheat flour, moong dal, coconut, and jaggery is a favourite among both children and adults.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Wheat flour
- a pinch Salt
- a pinch Turmeric powder
- Sesame oil
- Ghee
For Stuffing
- Moong dal
- Jaggery powder
- Grated Coconut
- a pinch Cardamom Powder
- Ghee
Directions
To prepare the outer dough
- In a bowl add wheat flour with salt, turmeric and mix well.
- Add water little by little to make a dough.
- Then, add two to three spoons of sesame oil, stir well, and let it sit for three to five hours.
To make pooranam
- Cook the moong dal till it becomes soft after a mild roasting.
- Grated coconut, powdered jaggery, and a little ghee should be added to a pan. Allow the mixture to begin blending and melting.
- Next, combine cooked moong dal and cardamom powder with this mixture.
- Turn off the stove and let them to cool.
- Then, after making the stuffing, shape it into little balls.
To make poli
- In a banana leaf, add sesame oil, and set aside.
- Pat a little ball of dough into the shape of a roti.
- Keep the pooranam on it and thoroughly enclose it with the outside dough.
- Once more, pat it with fingers.
- Place patted poli on a heated tawa and sprinkle some ghee to the sides.
- Cook both sides by turning.
- Remove it from the tawa, repeat the process.
- Sweet Dal Poli is Ready.
- Serve fresh with melted ghee on it.
